My love of line drawing and sketching began when I was in my teens. When my art teacher realised that I enjoyed sketching and could produce reasonable results he encouraged me by obtaining various still life subjects for me to draw. The result, of course, was a keen student. I use pencils for layout and water resistant ink pens to finalise the work. This allows me to wash a range of thin watercolours across the drawing should I want to. Sketching with a pencil is something that can be done at any time and almost any where and sketches often lead to other works in other mediums. I use a soft putty rubber for corrections as this doesn’t mark the paper.
